Interrupt The Pattern

The next time you find yourself about to dive into some mindless snacking ("I'm only going to have one but I'm still going to bring the entire container with me just in case." ....just in case what!? I digress) brush your teeth first.

Often times, mindless snacking isn't because we're actually hungry but rather we're bored, tired, frustrated, or some other emotion is triggering a habit.

Habits are nothing more than automatic patterns are brains try to bring to life without us even having to think. Brushing your teeth is a great way interrupt this pattern before the habit takes hold.

If after you've brushed your teeth you're still hungry, then have at it. This way, you'll be better equipped to consciously choose what you want to eat and how much.

And be sure to choose wisely. If you consistently eat the same thing over and over after brushing your teeth, this too is likely to turn into its own habit.
