7 Important Choices That Will Make or Break You
You have a choice.
Actually, you always have a choice.
You have the power to choose what you let into you life. Let the right things in and your life will take off.
But let in the wrong things and unfortunately the challenges you face will likely be much more difficult than necessary.
1. Choose your food.
It's no secret - junk in, junk out. The food you eat literally becomes your blood and your cells and pretty much everything that makes up your physical body. Load you body up with fast food and bon bond and watch your performance drop. Fuel up with what makes your body thrive and watch your wildest dreams unfold before you eyes.
2. Choose your movement.
Just like Daisy Duke's boots were made for walking, your body was made for moving. The dangers of a sedentary lifestyle have been compared to cigarette smoking. Think about that, the deliberate inhalation of known carcinogens is just as bad for your body as not moving.
It doesn't matter how you move your body. Well, proper movement matters but it doesn't matter what you do to move your body. Weightlifting, running, dancing, surfing, ball sports, etc. Pick one or more and get to it!
3. Choose your inspiration and information.
Just like the food you let into your body, what you let into your mind is equally important. If you start your day watching the news and all of its death and destruction related glory then there's a good chance you'll continue your day anxious and paranoid.
However, if you have an powerful, motivating video already queued up on YouTube or good book ready to go you'll be setting a much more powerful tone for your day. Now, this isn't limited to just your morning routine of course. What you let into your mind can have a huge impact any time of day.
4. Choose your entourage.
You're the average of the five people with whom you spend the most time. If you have not heard this before take this one in and implement it quickly. If you want something, the fastest way to get there is to spend time with people who have done it, are doing it, or will be there to support you 100%.
5. Choose your vision (your 'why')
The reason why you do something is much more powerful than the what. We all have the capacity to do pretty much whatever we want to do. Within this land of seemingly endless opportunity what are we to look to for direction and guidance?
The answer lies in understanding your underlying motivation. It doesn't matter what it is per se although admittedly a strong, powerful reason for doing something will carry you much further. Choosing what moves you, what drives you, what compels you to take on each and every day is one of the most important decisions you'll ever make.
6. Choose your thoughts
While admittedly you can't choose every single thought that comes into your head, you can choose which thoughts to entertain and which ones to let go. Meditation and mindfulness are amazing tools when it comes to recognizing and becoming aware of your thoughts and then enabling you to make the conscious decision to stay with that thought of move on to the next.
7. Choose yourself.
This is where the rubber meets the road and is the most important decision you could possibly ever make. Because here's the thing, if you want a life that is fully your own you are going to have to choose to go after it. Times will get tough but remember this is only just our perspective. Tough and challenging to someone may be a walk in the park to another.
No one is going to hand you anything. Not because they don't like or don't care for you but because they too are trying to survive and have some significance in the world. This doesn't matter when you chose yourself. Don't let anyone or anything stand in your way. If you want it, go get it.
James Altucher wrote a great book all around this which I'm still in the process of finishing up but am through enough comfortably recommend it.
These are just a handful of the many choices you'll have the opportunity to make daily, monthly, and over the course of your life. This is great because each and every day you'll have the opportunity to look back and reflect if the choices you made get your closer or further away to what you want.
So my friends make powerful choices, get a little better each and every day, and don't be afraid to enjoy the ride.
