We're All In This Together

Dear Friends,

It’s interesting.

In a world that is so connected, there is still often such a deep, underlying disconnect.

Seriously, think about that. With a couple of clicks of a mouse, you can connect with nearly half of the world’s population.

Because of the internet, we have direct access to BILLIONS of people.

And yet somehow, we haven’t figured it out yet.

Despite all of the open sharing, open discussions, and open conversations, there is still so much misunderstanding amongst one another.

I’m often appalled at the level of hatred that continues to plague the human race.

It’s mind boggling to me that all of this fear fueled hatred still runs so rampant.

Don’t you get it (this is the metaphorical “you,” not you specifically, my dear friends)?

There is so little to truly fear. I'm not saying that there is nothing to fear. Rather, there is no reason to let fear be your fuel.

Because of the internet, we can all experience the beauty of the entire world without ever leaving our homes.

Because of this interconnection, we have clear lines of communication to learn from and connect with just about anyone.

There has never been a better time to be alive.

I want to say that again just in case you missed it:

In the entire known history of the human race, there have never been a better time to be alive.

There are more opportunities now than there ever have been.

The ability to create, craft, and forge the life you know you truly deserve has never been more within reach.

We just often forget that we all want the same things.

We all want to be happy.

We all want to be loved.

We all want to be significant and appreciated and that who we are and what we do matters.

Don’t let your fears and insecurities win. Don’t overindulge the bad wolf.

Be kind to your fellow man or woman. We’re all fighting a fight that no one knows anything about.

And when we remember this, when we remember that we’re all in this together, it’s so much easier to come together than it is to push each other away.

Because together we can do the things that would have seemed impossible all on its own.

Let us stand, together.

With Love,

P.S. I liked this quote from Mark Zuckerberg at the Facebook F8 Conference which was the inspiration for this Letter, “"Our lives are connected. Whether we're welcoming a refugee fleeing war or an immigrant seeking new opportunity. Whether we're coming together to fight global diseases like Ebola or to fight climate change, we have the courage to see that the path forward is to bring people together, not push people apart."
