Just Show Up

Dear Friends,

Some days you’ll be on point. You’ll be in the zone.

I’m sure you know that feeling of impenetrable motivation, focus, and power. You’re fully energized and ready to tackle whatever task is at hand.

You’re in the zone. Your zone.

But we all know this doesn’t last. As hard as we try to hold on to that feeling, some days just do not pan out like we hoped.

And that’s ok.

Because it’s the day-in-day-out hard work, dedication, and discipline that drives you forward; not just some stroke of genius.

Maybe that’s what genius really is - persisting until you find your answer or make your mark.

If insanity is doing the same thing expecting different results then maybe genius is a matter of doing different things until you get what you want.

I admit this is an area that I struggle with but work on every day. Some days I don’t want to do anything. And I don’t. And then the next day I look back and wish I had done something. Anything. I feel like I’m a day behind.

I could have read just one page of a book. I could have written one sentence. I could have sparked up just one conversation that may have eventually lead to a new connection. I could have done pretty much anything.

What I could have done was just shown up.

Ask anyone you look up to as a success. I mean real success, too. They set out to do something and did it against all odds. The type of success that comes from dedication...

…and a whole lot of heads down, heart up hard work.

I can guarantee  that their rise to the top wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. As cliche as it may sound, there was most likely a good deal of blood, sweat, and tears. But instead of getting discouraged, negative, and depressed, they continue to show up each and every day. As tough it may be, they just showed up.

There’s no fancy equation to succeeding in whatever you set out to do. Be it a new business venture, a sport or fitness competition, or committing to be a better, wiser, healthier you.

Work hard, learn and adapt, and just show up each and every day just for the opportunity give it your all, whatever your “all” may look like that day.

Even if you don’t think have much to give, just show up.

Even when you don’t think it’ll be worth it, just show up.

You’d be surprised to see what happens when you work your way into your zone.

Do this and in due time I promise you’ll find yourself at the top of your game with very few things that will ever be able to stop you.

With Love,
