Cost of Convenience
I love protein bars especially ones from ThinkThin and Quest. They are convenient and they taste great.
Unfortunately, these are not the most fulfilling foods (generally 50-80g in total weight) for the calories and macros they provide.
In general, one Quest bar will have a breakdown of 10f/20c/20p give or take a gram or two for each macro. For those same macros, you could have an egg white omelet topped with half an avocado and some fruit (a small banana or 1/2-1 cup of berries). Doing so can double if not triple the total volume of food consumed.
As an added bonus, the thermogenic effect of food (the amount of energy/calories required to digest the food into something usable) is generally higher for unprocessed foods.
While a protein bar can be eaten almost immediately and on the go, consider giving yourself an extra 10-15 minutes to whip up something simple and wholesome.
